Job Description : Technical Writer

The Technical Writer – Software Engineering, will be an integral member of the Amicus global software development team. The Technical Writer’s primary responsibility is to build and maintain architectural and technical documentation for the ELEVATE TM Platform .

  • Write software engineering documentation for internal and/or external audiences, such as API reference docs and developer guides for the ELEVATE Platform stack, including the DORM (proprietary configuration tool)..

    • Write detailed developer and configuration guides, sample codes, and API reference docs.

    • Supplement developer documentation with relevant sample code.

    • Clarify terminology and work with software developers for achieving consistencies in the product and documentation.

  • Work with internal teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of the product and the documentation requirements.

  • Develop world-class product information with simple and concise English by organizing ideas and translating complex technical terms into information any reader (both native and non-native English readers) can understand.

  • Participate in all sprints and planning meetings; participate in team demos and retrospectives.

  • Produce high-quality documentation that is appropriate for its intended audience.

    • Complete writing assignments according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology.

    • Edit, clarify, and proofread documents written by others.  

    • Create tutorials to help end-users use a variety of applications.

  • Works within the organization to develop, deploy, and drive industry standards.

  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science or related field

  • At least 5 years of directly related professional experience.  FinTech experience highly desirable.

  • Experience as part of an agile software development team.

  • Demonstrated experience in documenting business system software operation and troubleshooting procedures. 

  • Demonstrated experience writing API, SDK and Developer guides and product documentation.

  • Strong track record and ability to deliver high-quality documentation paying attention to detail.

  • Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and pictures and online assets.

  • Excellent written skills in English.

  • High degree of initiative to seek out information for the documents.

  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced, agile environment.

  • Web Development background is desirable.

  • Strong MS Office experience (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project, Vizio)

  • Excellent communication and writing skills and attention to detail.

  • Interest in innovation and improving customer experience.

  • Thorough knowledge of current modern enterprise-class software technologies

  • Experience with non-profit organizations a plus

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point)

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
  • Works in an office environment involving sitting most of the time at a desk in front of a computer. The worker is subject to close visual acuity to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and viewing a computer screen to read and enter data.
