Job Description : Director, Product Management

Reporting to the CEO, the Director, Product Management both leads the product management function and is a day-to-day hands-on product manager for our products on our Elevate platform.   We are seeking an experienced, results-oriented, and innovative Product Management professional to expand and refine our existing products.  This is a classic, early stage opportunity that requires the ability to be strategic and operational, think big thoughts, while rolling up your sleeves to get things done.  We are not just any fintech company – we are genuinely out to make the world a better place! 

Responsibilities
  • Provide overall leadership and general management and supervision for the product management function, defining, executing and delivering a product roadmap that delivers value to our customers.

  • Set the long-term strategy and vision for the company’s products. Develop a deep understanding of the underlying needs; validate ideas through market research, customer feedback and ruthlessly prioritize. 

  • Drive the product lifecycle process from ideation, problem validation, solution exploration, partnering with Engineering team in development and delivery. 

  • Work closely with customers and other key stakeholders to understand the product requirements.  Conduct thorough customer and commercial analysis helping to refine the product scope and offering.

  • Guide the design team(s) to validate solution designs prior to insertion in the development cycle.

  • Evaluate product performance metrics, usage data and market trends to refine Product Roadmap regularly. Establish a cadence of communication with all stakeholders, including Sales and Senior leadership team.

  • Ensure the Engineering team has a healthy product backlog that’s prioritized and mapped to the business plan.

  • Work very closely with the Engineering team(s) to ensure they understand the business requirement, customer need, and end-state product vision. 

  • Prepare product positioning and assist in the creation of product marketing materials and launch events.  

  • Mentor, coach and develop a small team of Designers and Product Owners. 

Requirements
  • 5 + years working in product management in the fintech industry.

  • Proven track record as a product manager.

  • Strong business savvy, financial acumen, and ability to understand complex business systems.

  • Experience in end to end ownership of a product and P&L.

  • Experience managing complex product development cycles and highly technical solutions, managing tradeoffs and evaluating opportunistic new ideas.

  • Expert at uncovering the core issue when posed with a problem, using data and research.

  • Demonstrated track record of strong analytic and organizational skills required to coordinate and manage conflicting priorities, multiple projects and significant and varied workflow with excellent attention to detail.

  • Experience creating workflow diagrams, wireframes, user flows, etc. 

  • Experience using AGILE methodology. Familiarity with SCRUM and SDLC processes a plus.

  • Experience working with offshore engineering teams strongly desired.

  • Demonstrated track record of working in a start-up and/or small, fast-paced environments, with little structure .

  • Very strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders, including staff, customers and internal and external stakeholders.

  • Expert written and verbal communication skills.

  • Creative and enjoy working within a small, entrepreneurial environment that is mission-driven, and results- driven.

  • Demonstrated ability to institute and adhere to applicable regulatory, risk management and compliance best practices and requirements.

  • Bachelor's Degree or commensurate experience required; Masters degree preferred.

 

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:

 

  • Works in an office environment involving sitting most of the time at a desk in front of a computer. The worker is subject to close visual acuity to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and viewing a computer screen to read and enter data.

  • Travel Requirements – The position requires approximately 15 – 20% travel.
