The Winnipeg Foundation Selects Amicus.io ELEVATE™ Platform to Drive Community Engagement
Innovative Charitable Giving Platform to Support Donor Participation
with Foundation Activities in the Community
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — November 13, 2018 — Amicus.io, an innovative provider of technology solutions for nonprofit financial services, today announced that it had been selected to provide the mobile and online donor fund management system to The Winnipeg Foundation, Canada’s first community foundation, holding more than $850 million in endowed funds.
The collaboration aims to provide a next-generation platform to donors and agency fund holders at the foundation, through a rich interface that gives users powerful fund management capabilities, while at the same time engaging with - and participating in - the causes and charities local to Winnipeg. The result is a modern, digital giving experience — enhancing donors’ relationship with The Winnipeg Foundation, and creating convenience, value, and affirmation for participants in the community foundation ecosystem.
“Meaningful philanthropy is local,” said Cornelis Hoekstra, CEO of Amicus.io. “Partnering with established, trusted organizations like The Winnipeg Foundation puts technology in the hands of modern donors, who want to personally direct their philanthropy to local causes most important to them. Using Amicus.io, The Winnipeg Foundation enhances its ability to match donors to areas of need, while continuing to serve the greater needs of the community.”
“We are excited about the options Amicus’ platform will bring to our donors and how this will enhance their experiences working with The Foundation; we look forward to working together with Amicus.io and the new, innovative technology on this next phase of their online experience,” said Rick Frost, CEO of The Winnipeg Foundation.
The Winnipeg Foundation, formed in 1921, is the first community foundation in Canada, and among the top five in terms of endowments. “This agreement marks the entry of Amicus.io into the Canadian market – a key strategic priority for Amicus.io as it begins its global expansion,” said Cornelis Hoekstra.
About The Winnipeg Foundation
The Winnipeg Foundation, Canada’s first community foundation, was formed in 1921. It helps people give back to the shared community by connecting generous donors with Causes they care about. It is an endowment-based, public foundation, so gifts are pooled and invested and annual earnings are distributed back to the community. In 2017, the Winnipeg Foundation received $42.4 million in gifts and distributed $38.1 million to the community. For Good. Forever.

Impact Foundation Selects Amicus.io ELEVATE™ Technology to Provide Leading-Edge Solutions for Impact Accounts
January 5, 2018
CHARLOTTE, North Carolina—(January 5, 2018) – Amicus.io (www.amicus.io), an innovative provider of technology solutions for the financial services and nonprofit space, is pleased to announce it has been selected to provide the mobile and web-based interface and administrative solution for Impact Foundation (www.impactfoundation.org), a $35 million donor advised fund focusing on social impact investments.
This comes on the heels of Amicus.io's recent introduction of a totally new approach to traditional donor-advised fund (DAF) technology, and one that for the first time empowers donors and sponsors with the expanded functionality and engagement capabilities that donors have been looking for. "We are excited to be selected by Impact Foundation and consider it a tribute to our corporate vision of enhanced donor engagement that such a forward looking organization has elected to provide our platform to its donors," remarked Amicus.io CEO Cor Hoekstra.
"I believe that our adoption of the Amicus ELEVATE™ platform will provide our donor/investors with a market-leading experience for impact investing through a donor advised fund," noted Jeff Johns, CEO of Impact Foundation. "The ELEVATE™ platform provides unique capabilities that can help us scale quickly and also supports a fun, powerful experience for donor/investors looking for fresh ways to deploy charitable capital."
Recognized as the fastest growing charitable instrument in the country today, donor advised funds (DAFs) have been limited in their ability to support the levels of family collaboration, donor-grantee communication, and investment flexibility traditionally demanded by the high net-worth audience. Amicus.io is the first player in the digital philanthropic space with an approach that can truly help mobilize the vast amounts of social capital that exists within the nation today.
DAFs enable individuals with philanthropic interests to efficiently manage their charitable giving by allowing them to make an irrevocable contribution of a variety of personal assets (cash, appreciated stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and real estate) at the most advantageous time; claim a tax deduction for the gifts, and then direct contributions from their account to the charity or charities of their choice by recommending a grant distribution from the foundation sponsoring their account.
Amicus' ELEVATE™ platform provides a true open architecture capability that was designed to serve a wide range of investment options, and donor/advisor preferences. "Coupled with a powerful, private, and secure relationship and collaboration environment, Amicus.io has introduced a solution that supports high net worth donors as they move toward a new, investment-driven form of philanthropy, enhancing the overall engagement experience for donors, while simultaneously providing a simple, efficient system for managing basic charitable contributions," said Beth Katz, Amicus’ Chief Product Officer. "This powerful combination allows for charitable foundations to provide their donors with more choices on how they would like to see their philanthropic capital make an impact in the world.
Headquartered in Charlotte, NC, Amicus.io creates a premium, immersive giving experience for the Donor Advised Fund (DAF) donor, fostering strong connections between donors and charities, and making planned giving easy, enjoyable, and rewarding. The Amicus.io executive leadership team includes Founder & Chairman Walt Ruloff, Cor Hoekstra (Co-Founder & Chief Executive Officer), and Beth Katz (Chief Product Officer). Together, this leadership team brings more than 70 years of combined experience in financing and launching technology companies.
